But not by myself.
That’s why I’ve joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, the world’s first and largest charity sports training program. Team in Training is going to help keep my limbs from injury, get me up and out of bed on Saturday mornings to run around Prospect Park, and make sure I’m ready to cross the finish line on October 17th at the Nike Women’s Marathon.
I’m looking to all of you for support as well.
This is not just a physical endurance challenge. I’m aiming to raise nearly $4,000 to help find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma. Every 4 minutes, an American is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer. While this is one of the greatest tests of my own might, there are people battling cancer every day who demonstrate the most inspiring resilience. To hear their stories, see this video: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Mission Video.
Your donations will help me get through those 26.2 miles, but most importantly, it will help those with cancer in their daily journey and push us closer to cures that will save lives.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
I’m going to author this blog help me reflect on the training process and to keep all my supporters up-to-date on my shenanigans.
